I never get around to buying music, for whatever reason. Today I discovered two new bands and impulsively bought their albums. Will you like them? I dunno, my taste in music is maybe a little weird.

The first band is Midnight Juggernauts, an Aussie group. I accidentally stumbled across this song on YouTube and dug it. They don't seem to have it for sale yet, so I got their album "Dystopia" instead and have been enjoying it.

The second album was "Hurdy-Gurdy" by Prototyp, a Scandinavian group. What really sold me on the album was the fact that they took a hurdy-gurdy, an old medieval instrument, as their starting point. I love older music, and I love it when somebody reinvents/revives traditional music by giving it a modern twist. According to one reviewer these guys "are playing old hurdy gurdys wired to effects, and jamming to a techno rhythm section on their Mac." To my untrained ear, hurdy-gurdys sound a little similar to bagpipes, and the songs on this album sound a little dark and gothy, sometimes with a vaguely middle eastern or celtic flavor to them. Although apparently they're based on traditional Scandinavian music. Fun, interesting stuff.

I haven't found much new, but I have gone back and found the early albums from Interpol to be pretty awesome.

Sigur Ros is also interesting and strange, but probably a bit of an acquired taste.

There's such a variety of musical taste here. Maybe why there's less collective musical stuff short of Rock Band (though that's a pretty long short of). I'm going to a concert next week (Disturbed) and it barely crossed my mind that anyone might be interested.

I'm a big fan of The Last Vegas - they're what the new Guns 'n' Roses album should have been, but a little looser. Also, the lead singer looks and dances like Axl from the neck down, Bowie from the neck up.

Ninja cowboys and future unicorns! With robots and eagles! Plus it would be totally fun to play in Rock Band.

"Knights of Cydonia" actually appears in Guitar Hero 3. It is very hard.

You know, as sexy babes go, she seemed unimpressive to me.

I did like her lasers, though.

Based solely on this video, I think Red Fang could be my new favorite band.
