If anyone remembers the pure cheese that was Harry Hamlin in Clash of the Titans, they're remaking it with Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes.

Speaking of remakes, anybody seen the new Star Trek? I didn't realize it opened already. A ludicrous portion of reviewers seem to like it.

Sara and I plan on seeing it tonight. I'm supposed to try to coordinate something since our original plans fell through. How many of you folks are interested in seeing it over here in the East Bay and before 9pm?

I could make that. Well, depends a little bit about how "before" 9 we're talking about.

Sara has an early morning tomorrow so we can't see the 9:45 showing that her cousin is going to. She needs to be in bed by midnight or will become a grumpy daughter visiting her mother this weekend.

I enjoyed it quite well, too. A really good re-imagining.

I have not yet seen it, but allow me two bragging points.

Point the first: my labmate is an extra in the film. With sufficient foreknowledge, she is even identifiable. (She's the one carrying the Macbook-like device up the stairs)

Point the second: my friend's lab figures into one of the DVD extras, and they even interviewed him.

Will someone who hasn't follow star trek much enjoy this one? I'm assuming yes.
