It has been proposed that we apply to become a Google AdSense site so we can get a tuppence every so often. What do you think of this plan?

Do you have any idea how much money you'd be getting from this? If it's only like $20 a year, it's kind of pointless. I'm guessing it'd have to be a minimum of $200 a year before it's worthwhile for us.

As Alex suggested, I imagine we would justifiably be classified as "occupied solely by family and friends," but I'd be willing to let them make that determination. We have discussions of some substance about a number of topics, as opposed to the basic d00d, I'd totally hit it types of conversations.

Not so in to ads on Loungenet however I too have Adblocker so I wouldn't see them anyways. Even so there would be no money if we don't click on the ads provided to the site. So even if we had ads there would probably be little in the way of traffic from here to our sponsors.

No, I think Adsense pays based on "impressions", not "click-throughs", so there'd be some money flowing. And given the amount I refresh here, I'm sure it would be substantial.

I don't have any issue with it, I'll protect myself from unwanted adversitement as appropriate to the level of unwantedness.

If it can help out to build a small cash pot to defray on-going costs associated with LoungeNet it doesn't sound bad at all. If, however, it's not going to help much at all, I'm not sure what it buys us as I am generally unfamiliar with this Google offering.

I'm one of those people that picks up pennies when I encounter them on the sidewalk. If it is relatively painless to set up something as relatively unobtrusive as Google's ads, and the result is free money, I find that somewhat compelling.

I've implemented them on my personal page out of morbid curiosity. It's only the 2nd day so I can't really get a gauge on worthwileness yet. However, I do like the "channels" option where you can plop down an add that will categorize itself based on categories you create.

BTW: Google adds pay both by impressions and click throughs.

Has anybody looked at a stats report to see how much traffic the Lounge gets?
