Oh, and all you people that paid $600 within the first two months of its release? The price is now $400.

True, but at least you get a $100 credit towards other Apple products.
If you are one of the early iPhone adopters, you were probably planning on getting more Apple stuff later anyway, right? _________________ "Countrymen, I say to ya, beware Canadia." MC Frontalot, "Canadia", Final Boss |

A guy on my team bought one at release, and bitched at them sufficiently to get a hundred bucks back in cash. Apparently it took him an hour on the phone, though.
I remember when he was demoing his new iPhone to us and the web browser would literally crash every two or three minutes. Apparently it's stable now. |

I picked one up now that the price has dropped. I am enjoying it but there is some work left to be done on the software side.
I had trouble getting my calendar onto the iPhone. If you don't use a Mac you have to use outlook to port over your iCalendar, Mozilla Thunderbird's iCalendar doesn't seem to be recognized by iTunes. That is right you have to Sync everything through iTunes. Ugh! Also I can't view PDF's or documents with the iPhone, and I can't transfer files via drag and drop, so no portable drive functions are available. Also when I Sync with my work computer and my home computer it gets all confused about which device has the most up to date stuff. I can clear the iPod and use the computer's info, or merge the two (I get doubles of things when I do this sometimes), but I can't set the phone to override the info on the computer. Lastly the browser is a bit wonky, it doesn't always remember to give you a back button to go to a previous page. Not very helpful that.
They need to take a good look at the palm stuff and make some changes more like that.

Give the software a chance to go through one major revision, and they'll probably work out most of it.
As for syncing, without a central repository designated as the master, you'll always have the kind of trouble you're talking about. _________________ I demand a better future. |

My biggest complaint is that I want my Thunderbird to Sync with my iPhone. If I can have that then I'll be very happy.

You are right though. Palm has been around for quite some time and has a lot of people who have worked to give it all the features and add-on programs which I enjoyed with my last PDA. So I'll try to be patient. _________________ ♪I've got Soul, But I'm not a Soldier, ♪

Yeah, but shouldn't there be a premium to be an early adopter? I mean, you had 40-year-old men standing in hour-long lines for the thing, obviously there was a demand.
It's kind of a "conspicuous spender tax". _________________ "Yes kids, we lied to you about Santa, but trust us, Jesus is real"

Wow. I think the worst thing is that you can have your phone turned off the entire time while abroad, just to use at the airport when you get home or whatever, and still get charged megabucks. I guess this is yet another reminder to read all the fine print, no matter how much of it there is. _________________ Cake! |

| My new way of thinking about this is you buy and iPhone (which is also an iPod ie. movies and music) that you can't take internationally since it is also a cell phone that wants to check your email? That sounds like a bug not fine print. Maybe I'm missing some feature since I don't have one yet or cell phone companies are huger tards then I thought or Apple screwed up. |

Seeing as iPhones, since they're using that shitty AT&T standard, are pretty much locked into CDMA anyways, what's the point of taking it abroad anyways, other than to use as an ipod? a $600 8 gig ipod? _________________ "Yes kids, we lied to you about Santa, but trust us, Jesus is real"

AT&T is GSM, actually. The iPhone also has WiFi, so it's a moderately nifty Internet viewing device as well. _________________ "Countrymen, I say to ya, beware Canadia." MC Frontalot, "Canadia", Final Boss |

Only $400 now. Of course, you could get a wifi-enabled iPod Touch (more or less iPhone without the phone) for $300 and not have to deal with AT&T. _________________ It is my firm belief that it is a mistake to hold firm beliefs. |
