I sent mine back. I should say, I am in the process of sending mine back. After answering 2 questions on the support site and supplying my address, they shipped me a new guitar, which should arrive today. Then I will be shipping mine back. I believe Luke has already been through the entire process at this point. All-in-all, it has been surprisingly painless. _________________ It is my firm belief that it is a mistake to hold firm beliefs. |

Yeah, there was a manufacturing flaw in the strum bars of the first run of guitars. It has since been fixed, but it is annoying nonetheless. Getting your guitar replaced is really easy though. Go to the support site that Doug listed, answer about 4 questions, and elect to have your new guitar cross-shipped to you. You have to enter a credit card number, as they reserve $125 to ensure that you send back your old guitar. It will take 3 or 4 days to get your new guitar, and you send back the old one in the box the new one came in. The only annoying part for me was taking the old guitar to the UPS store to ship it back (which still only took me about 30 minutes).
It sucks they had a problem with the manufacturing on the guitar, but you can't fault them for the return program. It's pretty much painless. _________________ "Countrymen, I say to ya, beware Canadia." MC Frontalot, "Canadia", Final Boss |

I'm waiting on my RMA replacement for my guitar. It had that exact behavior. _________________ Why am I talking when there is Science to do on the people who are still alive? |

Thanks Doug, I answered all those questions and am awaiting my new and improved guitar. I don't feel so bad knowing everyone had the same problem.
For now I'll just have to make due with one guitar. I do like the ease of the replacement process with one exception. I couldn't find that support page without Doug.
Thanks again guys

The support web page was printed on a bright pink piece of paper that came in your Rock Band box. It had a big STOP sign printed on it as well to catch your attention. _________________ "Countrymen, I say to ya, beware Canadia." MC Frontalot, "Canadia", Final Boss |

Wow, I feel special. My name got used twice in the same post.
I think I got one of the new batch of guitars in my game, but I'm not terribly happy with it. The green fret is sorta loud (it clicks), and the other frets are really loud. The strum switch is mushy and silent, it feels like spooning honey out of a jar. I would rather have a little noise in the strum, so I can hear the beat of the strums instead of the off-beat fret pushing.
The drums are doing great, but my red one is a bit less sensitive than the others. Apparently snapping the pedal in half is a big problem many people are having, too, so I'm trying to jam on it now before the warrantee runs out. Drums are way fun. I'm about 1/3 through Hard at the moment. |

Hooray, I am up to the second-to-last tier in Hard on drums. I don't terribly enjoy the song Enter Sandman, but the drum line is sure entertaining.

Interestingly enough I just found out you clan purchase it for PS2 as well. Some people complain that it can get a bit choppy when the memory buffer gets full, and you can't do the head to head play that you can on the PS3 and XBOX360, but you can download songs and everything else. It's also $20 cheaper.

What a bummer. If I recall it works with any USB mic so if you have one from singstar or karaoke revolution then you could pick up the game DVD for only $50 if you have a couple guitars and a mic and get some enjoyment from it. Buying it all sounds like it wouldn't quite be worth $150.
It's too bad you can't get downloadable content onto the PS2. The advertisements were saying you do still get the downloadable content, but they were just cut and paste ads from the XBOX and PS3 adds. Like you said where would it go? How much memory does a downloaded song take?
Then no characters makes it a bit of a downer. I know people (some of Michael's roommates) who play the game solely to get money for new outfits for their rockers.
Scary thing, if you go onto the Rock Band website you can purchase some of the outfits and Rock Band gear. It's all hideously expensive!

I think it's totally worth the money, I'm having a grand old time on drums. Most of the songs take around 30-40Mb per song. That sounds like a lot, but you have to remember they have each instrument track separated, and each one in dolby 5.1 and stereo, along with additional information like stage scripting and actions for each character to follow to "play along" with the song. You could theoretically use USB thumb drives for the PS2, but Sony doesn't have an officially supported one, so they would be going out on a limb to rely on unsupported storage media.
I didn't think I would care about the outfits and stuff, but it's pretty fun unlocking new stuff and playing with the character creator. You can do some pretty interesting stuff with it.
I think it's pure comedy that they're selling real drum kits, amps, and guitars on the Rock Band site. I'm not sure who would be willing to spend that much money on a game site. And actually, I just looked, they are just linking to musiciansfriend.com. Funny. |

Wow, you weren't kidding! I clicked on a cute sweatshirt, and knowing that it would be hideously expensive, I expected $60. Try $170! It had better deflect bullets for that price. _________________ Are your dreams strange parables? |

I don't think it deflects anything. It's does attract fanboys though. _________________ ♪I've got Soul, But I'm not a Soldier, ♪
