| There are some new people in the conference room with Gregory and I. I think one of them smokes becuase I'm sitting here smelling cigarettes and I haven't before. I'm getting grossed out. |

There is no one in my office. I'm sitting at my desk. There is peanut butter here. It looks good. There is an exit to the north. _________________ "Ranger Brad, I'm a scientist, I don't believe in anything."

my work smells like old, dead things.
I'd take cigar...no wait, I think I'd still rather smell the old dead things. _________________ "Be careful where you sleep if no one else is around!" (wisdom from the Edo period) |

I am in a room surrounded by cubicles. There is a laptop to my East. There are many IT people here and most of them are talking. Some of them are talking about work.
One of them is getting into motorcycle gear.
My cubicle is still boring. _________________ Why am I talking when there is Science to do on the people who are still alive? |

| I will soon share a cubicle with three other people. I will have orchids. Orchids aren't boring. Hopefully they will make the cubicle interesting. |

The attorneys are restless. My cubicle is beige. I'm surrounded by piles of paper. Yawn. _________________ Are your dreams strange parables? |

You have attorney's around you? I'm not sure if a smoker or attorney is worse.
All my stuff is labled becuase I'm being moved to a new office, I see my name everywhere, its staring at me, too much of my name, everywhere... |

CHAOS!
We moved offices this weekend. today has been less then smooth. There were shortages of power strips and network switches. Labeled stuff didn't always end up in the right places, unlabeled stuff was lost. The lights were off for the first twenty minutes that I was here. It took me an hour to find power cords, a power strip, a network cable, and a network connection so I could actually work.
It has been exciting. |

I was always amused with moving offices. It felt more like a field trip or an adventure of some kind than work. Of course, moving to less awesome digs takes some of the shine off... _________________ I demand a better future. |

| I forgot to mention that our perfectly good Internet connection got "fixed" by Qwest causing intermittent activity all day. |

They did that to the T1 uplink to Mt. Hamilton today... a telecom guy went in to update the equipment on the other end, and was all satisfied that the phones were still working after the fact... except that the data connection wasn't. Too bad for the telecom guy, nobody ever notified anyone that would have cared about the data line going down. The programmers that were attempting to get work done for one of the instruments were especially miffed.
That's almost as good as the fact that rebooting the Ericsson box at Mt. Hamilton may cause the entire campus phone network to go offline, requiring manual intervention. Now that's a great system! |

| The operations manager just bought a dart board, which is great, but it also seems like a bad idea. Programmers throwing around sharp metal objects while at work. |

Actually the problem is when they get good at throwing around sharp metal objects while at work.
